Patience pays off.

It is true that if you are patient enough you will get what you are waiting for. The past couple of years I have been looking for vintage sewing machine on ebay, craigslist and at yard sales. Well this weekend I hit the jackpot. I came across a Singer 201-2 machine in its original cabinet at a yard sale. I had them plug it in and the light came on and the needle moved up and down. This was a good sign. And guess how much it was? $15. I was so excited. I brought her home and searched the internet on how to clean her up. Yes, it is a she and I have named her Thelma Olive after my grandmother. (My poor grandmother hated her name!) She runs like a dream and came with the owners manual as well as all of the attachments. I just wish I had the energy at the end of the day to play with her more. I am hoping once the kids are back in school I will have more time to play.

I'm in apron love:)

My beautiful apron package arrived today! So much fun! I always get the feeling of christmas or my birthday when my swap package arrives and this one did not disappoint! I am still amazed how a complete stranger can make such a perfect apron or in this case aprons for me. Thank you again Jen, I just love it! The tuckins were just as wonderful! A homemade tote, a coffee cup apron(made without a pattern), and all sorts of other goodies! Jen, I forgot to mention in my thank you about the phlox. I was so excited to see them. I had white phlox at my old house but had to leave them behind when we moved. They were from my grandmother's garden and it made me very sad to leave them. Thank you again Jen and to Shawnee too for hosting such a wonderful swap. (My pictures do not do these aprons justice) There are so many cute details to these aprons that make them extra special.

Kelly, Kelly, How does your garden grow?

Ok, Ok ...I know the nursery rhyme goes Mary, Mary, quite contrary. How does your garden grow? But my name is Kelly and this is my garden and my mother has always said that I am quite contrary! This is my garden that I started this spring. It is a kitchen garden right off of my deck and I love it! My husband built the fence and raised beds for me and I have had so much fun this summer. (Even if he says that we will have to grow a whole lot of veggies to pay for that fence!) But when momma is happy everybody is happy and he knows it!

Apron swap completed

My apron and tuckins are finished and ready to be shipped first thing tomorrow morning. This swap was so much fun! Thanks again for hosting Shawnee! I love the 50's and it has been fun seeing everyones interpretation of the theme "Back to the Future". I am going to have to rent the movies for the kids. I think they would really enjoy them! My apron was 50's inspired and made from a retro apron pattern. I will post pics of my tuckins after they have been received by my partner. I hope she likes them!
